Commodities Decline, Dollar Weakens, Treasuries Gain, Stocks Rise - U.S Daily Markets Wrap
Stocks rise led by rise in large cap and consumer discretionary sector stocks, while 10-year treasury yields decrease, dollar weakens, and crude oil declines
U.S. stocks rose by 1.5% today fueled by a 0.1% decline in large cap stocks and a 2.4% increase in consumer discretionary stocks. The S&P 500 Index is currently down 12.1% year-to-date, and down 4.7% over the past 12 months. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently down 8.8% year-to-date, and down 4.8% over the past 12 months. Elsewhere, commodities fell 1.3% with gold rising 1.6%, crude oil falling 2.8% and copper rising 0.3%. The yield on 10-year Treasuries is 2.73%, while the dollar weakened by 0.6% against a basket of other currencies. Meanwhile, investment grade corporate bonds rose by 0.2%, and high yield bonds rose by 0.3%.
