“The Work of Building the Ontario We Deserve Isn’t Over”: CUPE Ontario Responds to the Election Results

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the provincial election results now in, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario is renewing its call for the newly elected government to chart a different course and commit to building the Ontario we deserve.
“This isn’t the result we wanted given the terrible track record of the Ford Conservatives, and, frankly, a lot of us are really concerned about what else is in store,” said Fred Hahn, President of CUPE Ontario.
“But I also want to be really clear that members of CUPE Ontario will never stop fighting against cuts to public services, privatization, and the redistribution of public money into the pocket of big business.
And if this new government wants to show they are actually committed to 'working for workers', they must immediately recall the legislature to repeal Bill 124 and reverse their proposed budget cuts, including $1.3 billion in public education that have resulted in hundreds of education workers being given lay off notices.”
